I-Heung Lee

Biography

Music critics have described I-Heung Lee’s performance as graceful, thoughtful, and intelligent, touched with a unique style of artistic sophistication. The World Journal, New York’s leading Chinese newspaper, has praised her “consummate artistry and manifold style in piano performance.”

I-Heung Lee performs extensively in Asia. She received excellent reviews from the local newspapers and television when she performed in Shanghai Concert Hall.

In 2015, she played a concerto with East China Normal University symphony Orchestra at Shanghai Concert Hall again. She also gave a concert at Recital Hall in Shanghai Normal University. She performed at Tsuen Wan Town Hall, the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, and City Hall in Hong Kong, as well as on radio. She toured in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia where she performed solo recitals and piano concertos with orchestra.

 

In the United States, Ms. Lee has presented a piano concert at the Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in New York and has also performed at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center. Ms. Lee received a Certificate of Honor from the Mayor for her accomplishments in classical piano music when she performed at Herbst Theater in San Francisco. She tours Massachusetts, California, Montana, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Washington, D.C. and throughout the country, where she performs solo concerts in prestigious venues. She also gives many performances in public libraries including Redwood Library at Newport, Rhode Island, Greenwich Library in Connecticut, Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library and Ossining Public Library in New York, Weston Public Library in Massachusetts, and others. She was the first guest artist to perform in the opening ceremony of the classical music series at Queens Borough Public Library, and broadcasts a series of solo performances on CUNY-TV and MNN-CH 67 TV in New York City. She also performed in the Virtuosi Annual Concerts presented at Saint Joan of Arc in New York City. Ms. Lee participated in the Second New York International Choral Festival at Lincoln Center and accompanied choral performances throughout the United States.

 

With the financial support of the Chou Foundation, I-Heung Lee studied and trained in the United States. She has received a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance, a Piano Post-Graduate Diploma, and a Piano Professional Diploma. She studied at the Julliard School of Music and the City University of New York.

 

While completing the teachers’ training for Suzuki, Yamaha, Music Together, Dalcroze, and Orff methods, she was a piano instructor at Long Island University. Presently, Ms. Lee performs and teaches in the United States. She has been invited to be a judge for several piano competitions in New York. She also teaches piano and gives master classes in Hong Kong and China.
